Hiwassee dental program will continue

ALCOA, Tenn. — A $100,000 gift from the Holston Foundation will allow the dental hygiene program of Hiwassee College to continue after the school's closure. Tennessee Wesleyan University in Athens, Tennessee, is acquiring the program, giving 15 rising seniors the ability to finish their degrees and entry to future students into the growing industry.

Methodist bishop in Peru supports Venezuelan migrants

LIMA, Peru — The Methodist bishop of Peru has lamented acts of discrimination and violence against Venezuelans who have fled to different parts of Latin America as their own country is on the brink of collapse. "As Christians, we are called every day to generously practice hospitality," said Bishop Samuel Aguilar, who has welcomed three families of Venezuelans to live at the "Casa Metodista," the church's national headquarters.

WASHINGTON — United Methodist Wesley Theological Seminary has announced the Rising Generation Awards, which will provide 10 full-tuition scholarships for new Master of Divinity candidates. The grants support the realization of a diverse but unified church as envisioned by young United Methodists in their statement at the recent special General Conference.
