Evangelism efforts flourish in southern Madagascar
ANTANANARIVO, Madagascar (UM News) — An evangelism mission is opening a new chapter in the establishment of The United Methodist Church on the island. Thanks to a $12,000 grant from the United Methodist Board of Global Ministries, a church team conducted open-air campaigns and house-to-house outreach, distributed Bibles and built a shelter for worship. Pastor connects with TikTok prayer ministry
WATERTOWN, S.D. — A pastor in South Dakota has found success with a prayer ministry on TikTok. “I knew that being on TikTok, I might reach a different group of people,” said the Rev. Kim Hastings. “There are a lot of younger users, and a lot of younger people are not connected to a church.” Since January, Hastings has shared prayers on gratitude, grief, loss, healing and life milestones. Doreen Gosmire reports.

Native American Inter-Tribal Caucus, Alliance for Transgender Inclusion
Groups decry US Supreme Court ruling
WASHINGTON — The Native American Inter-Tribal Caucus and United Methodist Alliance for Transgender Inclusion have each released statements decrying the U.S. Supreme Court decision to allow challenges to bans on conversion therapy for children. Both the American Psychological Association and American Medical Association have denounced the therapy.

United Methodists’ court win in Nigeria faces appeal
JALINGO, Nigeria — The Global Methodist Church, the theologically conservative denomination that broke away from The United Methodist Church, announced that it is appealing a Nigerian court decision returning assets and property to The United Methodist Church. In a press conference, Global Methodist Church Bishop John Pena Auta also called for church members to remain peaceful and stressed the new denomination’s commitment to the rule of law. Immediately after the March 30 judgment, United Methodist Bishop Ande Emmanuel also called for peace and healing.

LEXINGTON, Tenn. — First United Methodist Church in this city midway between Memphis and Nashville invited the community to take a walk filled with faith and Easter blessings. Agency exec highlights urgent call for peace
NAIROBI, Kenya — Roland Fernandes delivered a report emphasizing the urgent need for faithful engagement in a time of deep global instability. Fernandes is the top executive of the United Methodist boards of Global Ministries and Higher Education and Ministry. He spoke to both boards at their spring meeting under the theme of “Blessed Are the Peacemakers.”

Communications agency releases annual report
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — United Methodist Communications has released its 2025 Annual Report highlighting a year of communication and newsgathering in service to the international denomination. “2025 brought a season of exciting change to United Methodist Communications as we moved forward with a new strategic plan and structure to support the worldwide United Methodist Church,” said Dan Krause, the agency’s top executive. United Methodist News is part of United Methodist Communications.
