Chinese martyr inspires 50 years after execution

DURHAM, N.C. (UMNS) — The legacy of Chinese dissident Lin Zhao is still relevant 50 years after her execution. The Methodist-educated Zhao endured years of torture and imprisonment, sometimes using her own blood to scrawl her protests. A book by Duke professor Lian Xi tells this amazing story. HARARE, Zimbabwe (UMNS) — The United Methodist Church has partnered with the nonprofit Global Fund to empower young women in rural Zimbabwe with entrepreneurship skills. The goal is to offer the women an alternative to early marriage. Kudzai Chingwe has the story.
