Professors are ideological adversaries, unlikely friends
DALLAS (UM News) — You wouldn't expect Susanne Scholz and the Rev. William J. "Billy" Abraham to be good friends. On many issues, including ministry with LGBTQ people, the two Perkins School of Theology faculty members could not be further apart. Yet their friendship has endured. Taking care of the caregivers
MARIETTA, Ga. — Sheila Welch's experience as a caregiver led her into her current vocation as coordinator of the dementia care ministry at Due West United Methodist Church. The church supports those looking after spouses who have dementia. "Caregivers need just as much care as the person who is living with dementia," Welch said. Jennifer Christensen has the story.

WASHINGTON — In the aftermath of mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, United Methodist Council of Bishops President Bishop Kenneth Carter called for United Methodists to help end white supremacy and xenophobia, which he says are fueling a culture of violence.

NEPTUNE, N.J. — In a message to the Greater New Jersey Conference, Bishop John Schol expressed concern about a new state law "that after consultation with three doctors, a person may allow their life to be medically ended because of their medical condition." The law took effect Aug. 1.
