Puerto Rican bishop gives thanks to UMCOR
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (UMNS) — In the year since Hurricane Maria swept across Puerto Rico on Sept. 20, 2017, The United Methodist Church has been sending prayers and support. The United Methodist Committee on Relief has contributed more than $20 million, allowing the Methodist Church of Puerto Rico to establish the Renew, Rebuild and Reconstruct (Rehace) program. A series of videos produced by Michelle Maldonado of United Methodist Communications shows the impact the church has had.

Letter urges GC2019 to prioritize exit plan
WORTHINGTON, Ohio (UMNS) — A theologically diverse group of United Methodists urges delegates for the special General Conference in 2019 to put an exit plan for churches at the top of agenda. The open letter started in the West Ohio Conference and is drawing signatures. Heather Hahn reports.

Hymn Society honors Kimbrough
ATLANTA — The Rev. S T Kimbrough, who founded Global Praise for the United Methodist Board of Global Ministries, was named a society “fellow” by the Hymn Society in the United States and Canada for his work as a scholar, musician and advocate of global hymnody in the churches. Latino advertising campaign targets seekers
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A new United Methodist Church advertising campaign specifically targets Hispanic and Latino seekers—those who identify themselves as spiritual, socially conscious and seeking meaning in their lives, but who are not affiliated with a church. The campaign is called “The United Methodist Church: Your faith. Your culture. Your place.” It is based on a study commissioned by United Methodist Communications from the Barna Group.
