Young people march for change in Angola
LUANDA, Angola (UM News) — Nearly a thousand young United Methodists took to the streets of Luanda recently to march against different ills that afflict Angolan society. PITTSBURGH — Despite the valiant efforts of firefighters, the Sheraden United Methodist Church building was expected to be condemned after a four-alarm fire Sept. 9. The church is a site for the United Methodist Church Union’s Kids Meal Network and other outreach ministries.

Day of Hope raises awareness of addiction and recovery

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Conference will observe its annual “Day of Hope: Encouraging Prevention and Recovery” the weekend of Sept. 13-15, but West Virginia Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball encourages churches to hold similar events any Sunday of their choosing. Day of Hope events raise awareness of substance abuse disorder and lift up those in recovery.
