Border Separates Families at Christmas

United Methodist missionaries are part of an effort to unite families who are divided by deportations and immigration policies. For nearly 20 years, families have gathered at Christmas time at Friendship Park in San Diego for a reenactment of the Nativity called Las Posadas. The park is on the border between the United States and Mexico. A fence keeps families separated but they are able to touch through the barrier. In this limited way, a traditional Las Posadas prayer service is held each December. The event unites families and raises awareness of their situation.
