NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Citing long waits for visas, organizers have rescheduled General Conference from August this year until 2024. With the United Methodist lawmaking assembly on hold, groups are moving up a planned launch date for a breakaway conservative denomination. Heather Hahn reports.

Church builds wheelchair ramp for homeowners

MACON, Ga. — Louis Miller, a disabled Vietnam veteran, doesn’t walk well anymore. His wife, Patsy, is under hospice care. Members of Wesley United Methodist Church stepped up to provide the couple with a ramp and porch so they can get in and out of their home easily. Kara Witherow reports.

$2.7 million for Perkins School of Theology

DALLAS — Perkins School of Theology, one of 13 United Methodist seminaries and part of Southern Methodist University, has been awarded a three-year, $2.7 million grant to support its Baptist House of Studies. The money comes from the Eula Mae and John Baugh Foundation.

COVID-19 brings pastor morale down

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — The Rev. Martin Thielen, a retired United Methodist pastor, says pastor morale in the church is suffering because of the coronavirus pandemic. “More than any other time in my journey as a pastor, close friends and I have discussed the possibility of leaving parish ministry,” he writes in a Feb. 23 post on his blog.
