FREUDENSTADT, Germany (UMNS) — Migrants are the 21st century missionaries for a global United Methodist Church, said speakers at the first Global Migration Consultation sponsored by the United Methodist Church in Germany and the United Methodist Board of Global Ministries. All lives matter — a lesson from Hebrew midwives

FERGUSON, Mo. (UMNS) — “Black lives matter” has been the message in protests and social media since two grand juries decided not to indict white police officers in the deaths of two black men. The Rev. F. Willis Johnson Jr., pastor of Wellspring Church, a United Methodist congregation in Ferguson, reminds readers that all lives matter. SMU planning cuts, layoffs

DALLAS (UMNS) — After various building projects and amid a billion-dollar capital campaign, Southern Methodist University is planning layoffs and other moves to trim $35 million in expenses. Moody's Investors Service says the United Methodist-related university's finances are stable but that it has "very thin liquidity" compared to similar schools, The Dallas Morning News reports.
