Hitting the road for Way Forward

RICHARDSON, Texas (UMNS) — North Texas Conference Bishop Mike McKee has been on a road show of late, holding meetings about the work of the Council of Bishops and Commission on a Way Forward. He’s just one of several bishops who have organized listening sessions about the council and commission’s effort to maintain denominational unity despite deep division over homosexuality. Judicial Council announces special session

EVANSTON, Ill. (UMNS) — The United Methodist Judicial Council has confirmed it will meet May 22-25 at the Hilton Orrington Hotel here to consider one or more petitions related to the special session of General Conference in February 2019. The request for the top court’s May meeting came from the denomination’s Council of Bishops. Linda Bloom reports.

ATLANTA — The United Methodist Board of Global Ministries is taking a deep look at program performance and fiscal accountability. It also is strengthening its stand against global racism and sexual abuse, including within its large personnel network, said Thomas Kemper, the mission agency’s top executive, during his report to the board of directors.
