United Methodist writes first book at 104 
CHITUNGWIZA, Zimbabwe (UM News) — She is a mother of eight, a grandmother, human rights activist, teacher, preacher, pastor’s wife and the only surviving founding member of Rukwadzano RweWadzimai, the Zimbabwe Episcopal Area’s women’s organization. Now, 104-year-old Martha “Granny” Mudzengerere can add author to that list. Kudzai Chingwe has the story.

MAGNOLIA, Ark. — In 2017, in a span of about two weeks, two students at Southern Arkansas University committed suicide on campus. In response to the tragedy, the Rev. Dan Read, the pastor at Greers Chapel United Methodist Church, began a program to pair college students with local families. Sam Pierce has the story.

Observing World AIDS Day

PHILADELPHIA — For 37 million people around the world, living with HIV and AIDS is an everyday reality, said the Rev. William Brawner, pastor of Haven-Peniel and Midtown Parish United Methodist churches. “On Sunday, Dec. 1, let us all engage in honest dialogue about HIV testing, prevention and counseling,” said Brawner, who serves on the United Methodist Global AIDS Committee.
