Education equals hope for Kenyan orphans 

NAIVASHA, Kenya (UM News) — More than 200 orphans and vulnerable young people have hopes for a brighter future as new graduates of Inua Partners in Hope. The United Methodist Church program helps young men and women overcome poverty and insecurity through faith-based mentoring and vocational training. Gad Maiga reports.

Women theologians meet for ‘prophetic event’
SEOUL, Korea (UM News) — United Methodist female theologians from Africa and Asia gathered recently to discuss their interpretations of the Bible and find commonalities of gender, race, class and theology. The seminar, organized by the United Methodist Board of Higher Education and Ministry, was a “prophetic event,” said the Rev. HiRho Park. The Rev. Thomas Kim reports.

No one goes hungry in Dewey

DEWEY, Okla. — When Dewey United Methodist Church downsized their library, the empty bookshelves got restocked as a food pantry. The town had no other food pantry and approximately 800 people in the area are food insecure. Meagan Ewton reports.

TAMPA, Fla. — A lot may dream when you dare to happen. That inverted phrase could be the motto for Cornerstone Family Ministries. The outreach ministry, which is a National Missions Institution of United Methodist Women, works with children who live at or below the poverty line. Ed Scott has the story.

Bilingual Academy for Spiritual Formation set 

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Upper Room announces a bilingual two-year Academy for Spiritual Formation starting August 2020 in San Antonio. Church leaders, both clergy and lay, seeking to deepen their spiritual lives will have the opportunity to find wisdom, renewal, community, worship and prayer offered in Spanish and English. The academy meets quarterly in eight weekly sessions. Applications are now being accepted.
