Conference brings hundreds to massacre site
EADS, Colo. (UMNS) — Hundreds of members of the Rocky Mountain Annual (regional) Conference rode buses for three hours to visit the Sandy Creek Massacre Historical Site, an effort to promote understanding of and healing for an 1864 atrocity that had Methodist involvement. Bishop Elaine Stanovsky led the Friday, June 20 pilgrimage, which included Cheyenne and Arapaho descendants of the massacre's survivors.
United Methodists tending to immigrant minors
TUCSON, Ariz. (UMNS) — United Methodist faith leaders are joining with other religious leaders to provide hospitality and basic needs for hundreds of undocumented Central American women and children who are being dropped off at bus stations in Tucson and Phoenix.

Agency exec uses birthday to raise new church funds
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) — Doug Ruffle, New Church Starts (Path 1) associate executive director, celebrated his 63rd birthday on June 11 by swimming more than three miles to raise more than $4,200 to support church planters in the United States and a new church in Argentina. New Church Starts (Path 1) is part of the United Methodist Board of Discipleship, which has the story.
