DRC agricultural training means ‘decent income’

NEW YORK (UMNS) — Beatrice Monga, a mother of seven in Kamina, Democratic Republic of the Congo, was struggling to pay hospital and school fees when she learned about the agricultural training program offered by the United Methodist Committee on Relief. North Georgia plans special conference session

PEACHTREE CORNERS, Ga. (UMNS) — Bishop B. Michael Watson called a special session of the North Georgia Conference for 10 a.m. ET Saturday, Oct. 25. The session will be to discuss the sale of the Simpsonwood Conference and Retreat Center property, which the conference voted earlier this year to close.

UMCmarket can help generate donations

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) — UMCmarket.org, presented by the General Council on Finance and Administration, allows online shoppers to donate a percentage of what they spend back to their church or the United Methodist ministry of their choice. GCFA estimates holiday shoppers can generate as much as $48 million in donations to ministry.

Memphis Conference gets $84,160 young clergy grant

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (UMNS) — An $84,160 grant from the Young Clergy Initiative will be used to establish internships that cultivate young leaders by giving them an opportunity to work in agriculture and among rural and urban poor. The Memphis Conference has the report.
