Cooks Union church cooks up meal ministry
COLQUITT, Ga. — Kaye B. Cook, a member of Cooks Union United Methodist Church, lives up to both her name and her church’s name. Every Wednesday, the former caterer and the Rev. Jean Watson, the church’s pastor, dedicate their entire day to cooking, baking, packing and delivering meals for Cooks Union’s Meals of Love ministry. Kara Witherow has the story.

Pastor’s path from Korea to Egypt to New England
GALES FERRY, Conn. — Through his childhood and into young adulthood, the Rev. Yunki Kim identified how society labeled him: He was a Korean immigrant living in Egypt, the pastor’s kid. Eventually his faith journey took him from serving as a chaplain’s assistant in the Korean military to a United Methodist pastor in the New England Conference. WASHINGTON — When people born and reared in the United States refer to difficulty with another person’s “accent,” they could be showing implicit bias toward a person whose first language is not U.S. English. The United Methodist Commission on Religion and Race has crafted a list of helpful ways to avoid accidental bias toward how others speak.

Learn about forging an inclusive culture
WORTHINGTON, Ohio — Former undersecretary of energy and Ohio State University President Kristina M. Johnson will discuss how to create an inclusive culture Oct. 18 with Bishop Gregory Palmer during Palmer’s leadership clinic on Zoom. The cost to attend is $30 for Ohio leaders and $40 for non-Ohio leaders.
