Mike Slaughter said of the proposed amendment, by substitution, on homosexuality, to Paragraph 161.F of the Book of Discipline. He said, “It was honest about our disagreement…we are not of one mind.”

Eight active and retired United Methodist bishops released a statement calling for the church to be open to new expressions of Methodist witness.

Bishops warned their funding imperiled
