Legacy Giving

Consider leaving a bequest, or other deferred gifts, to UMCom in your will. Your legacy will ensure that your impact continues on as UMCom continues to tell stories of transformation, reach new people, equip leaders, and deliver messages of hope and healing to a broken world.

Why Leave a Planned Gift to United Methodist Communications?

The support and foresight of our visionary, generous, and faithful donors allow us to continue our mission of equipping and informing The United Methodist Church for generations to come. Additionally, certain types of deferred gifts may provide current tax benefits, reduce estate taxes, or offer income during the donor’s lifetime.

We are so proud to share the legacies of those who believe in the power of communication.

Leave A Planned Gift in your Will

Gifts by will or estate plan are important to UMCom. These gifts, no matter the size, help sustain Christ-centered communications and continue telling the story of God’s work in the world through The UMC.

Unrestricted gifts give us the greatest flexibility to use funds where they are most needed.

You may leave UMCom:

  • A stated dollar amount
  • A percentage of your residual estate (what remains after gifts to loved ones and expenses have been paid), or
  • Specific liquid assets, such as securities

Name UMCom as A Beneficiary

Naming United Methodist Communications as a beneficiary on your retirement account or life insurance policy is a simple and powerful way to support our life-changing, life-saving ministry without changing your will or living trust. Beneficiary designation gifts pass directly to UMCom without going through the probate process and go right to work to help us strengthen our capacity and transform lives through impactful storytelling.

Retirement accounts

Many donors name UMCom as a beneficiary of all or a specified percentage of their IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or other retirement plan.

Individuals who inherit retirement plan assets are usually required to pay income tax on them, so they’re often considered among the best assets to leave to charity.

How to Name UMCom as A Beneficiary on Your Retirement Accounts

Ask your retirement plan administrator or financial institution for a change of beneficiary form, or complete the process through your financial institution’s official online portal. Please list us as:
