Lay servant ministries

An amendment to change the name to “lay servant” from lay speaking was discussed by delegates on Wednesday evening. The change in paragraph 266 of the Book of Discipline expands the categories and understanding of “lay servant ministries.”

Eric Park describes the reasons behind the new name and Roger Curless talks about how an expanded definition will encourage more people to engage in lay ministries.
