AURORA, Colo. (UMNS) - After a lone gunman entered a movie theater in Aurora, Colo.,early on July 20, killing at least a dozen people, the stunned community rallied to support survivors, pray for those who lost loved ones and prepare for a vigil that evening at the city municipal building.

South Central picks McKee on 23rd ballot

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (UMNS) - The Rev. Michael McKee, 59, is the third bishop-elect in the South Central Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church. McKee, senior pastor of First United Methodist Church in Hurst, Texas, was elected on July 20 when the conference meeting in Oklahoma City cast its 23rd ballot. McKee's election marked the end of voting at the South Central Jurisdictional Conference.

Conferences turn to bishop assignments

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) - The five U.S. jurisdictional conferences meeting this week have turned their attention to where newly elected bishops and their fellow bishops will serve.The South Central Jurisdiction Committee on Episcopacy was to announce its assignments late Friday night.Here is a quick recap of action:
